Wanstead Big Book meets on Friday evenings at 7.30pm at Wanstead Baptist Church, 29-31 Wellington Road, for an hour of reading and discussion based on Alcoholics Anonymous, the book that gives AA both its name and its programme. Working through the text with others is a grounded way to learn the Twelve Steps, and hearing members relate the chapters to their own lives brings it off the page. It is an open meeting, so anyone may attend, whether you have a desire to stop drinking or you are a family member, friend or professional. There is nothing to pay and no booking; you can come along without a copy of the book and simply listen.
Do I need to have read the Big Book to attend?
No. Newcomers are welcome whether or not they have read a word of it. You can just listen and follow along.
Who can come to this meeting?
Anyone. It is an open AA meeting, so family members, friends and professionals are welcome alongside people who want to stop drinking. It is free with no booking.
