Getting there
About this meeting
The South Woodford Group meets every Thursday at 8pm at the Salvation Army building on Daisy Road, in east London. Al-Anon Family Groups support people whose lives are affected by someone else's drinking, so members here are partners, parents, adult children and friends rather than drinkers themselves. This is an open meeting, so newcomers, professionals and anyone wanting to find out more can come along without any need to get in touch first. Meetings run for an hour and 15 minutes. There is nothing to pay and no booking process; anyone can simply arrive a few minutes before 8pm, find a seat, and take part as much or as little as they wish.
Common questions
Do I need to bring along the person I'm concerned about?
No, and most people don't. Al-Anon meetings are for the family member or friend, not the person who drinks, so you can attend entirely on your own.
Do I need to sign up before coming along?
No sign-up is needed. The meeting is free and open, so you can simply arrive on the day.
How regularly does the group meet?
The meeting is weekly, at the same day and time shown above.

Walking into a room for the first time is the hardest step. Foundations, our plain-language introduction to recovery, was written for exactly this moment — what to expect, what the Steps mean, and how to begin.
