About this meeting
Sale, Manchester hosts a weekly Al-Anon Family Groups meeting on Tuesdays at 8pm, held at Sale Moor Community Centre, Norris Road. Al-Anon Family Groups brings together people affected by another person's drinking, whatever their relationship to that person, to share how they cope and to support one another. Being an open meeting, it welcomes anyone affected by someone else's drinking, including people coming along for the first time. It lasts around two hours. There is no fee involved and no booking required, so arriving a few minutes before 8pm is all it takes.
Common questions
Who is Al-Anon actually for?
Al-Anon Family Groups is for people whose lives are, or have been, affected by someone else's drinking, not for the person who drinks. Members include partners, parents, adult children, other relatives and friends. This particular meeting is open, so anyone in that situation, including newcomers, is welcome to sit in.
Does the person who drinks need to come with me?
No, not at all. Al-Anon is about your own experience and wellbeing, so attending alone is normal and expected. The relative or friend concerned is not required to be there, or even aware of it.
Do I need to book in advance, and does it cost anything?
There is no charge and no need to book. Just come along on Tuesday for the 8pm start; you can simply take a seat when you arrive. The meeting lasts around two hours.
