Wood Green Newcomers meets every Thursday at 7.30pm in the Church Hall on Alexandra Road, N8, and as the name suggests is aimed at people new to Alcoholics Anonymous. The meeting is open, so friends, family members and anyone curious about the programme can attend alongside those working on a desire to stop drinking. It lasts an hour and a half, giving plenty of time for newcomers to ask questions and hear from others further along in recovery. The Church Hall is wheelchair accessible, and the group operates a chit system with sobriety chips presented for milestones up to a year. There is no cost involved and nobody needs to book a place in advance.
