Tamworth

Tamworth's Monday Alcoholics Anonymous meeting is held at St John's RC Church on St John's Street, in the town centre, starting at 8pm and running for an hour and a half. It is a closed meeting, which in AA language means it is reserved for people who have a desire to stop drinking; it is not a private club, and no invitation or referral is needed, just that desire. Many members value closed meetings for their frankness, since everyone present understands the problem from the inside. The church is wheelchair accessible. There is no cost and nothing to book, and if Monday does not suit, the same group hosts a second closed meeting at the same venue on Friday evenings.
