About this meeting

Swindon's Wednesday Al-Anon meeting is held online at 10.15am, UK and Ireland time, running for about an hour and a half. Al-Anon exists for people affected by someone else's drinking, whoever that person is and whatever stage things are at. A weekday morning slot works well for members before work or once children are at school, and the group shares experience using Al-Anon's literature and the twelve steps. It is an open meeting, so anyone whose life has been touched by another person's drinking is welcome, together with anyone wanting to learn more or support someone else through it. Newcomers do not need to have attended before, and are welcome to listen without speaking.

Common questions

Do I need to bring the person whose drinking concerns me?

Not at all. You can come entirely on your own account, whether or not the person is in recovery, still drinking, or no longer part of your life.

What does it cost, and how do I get the login details?

There's no fee and nothing to sign up for. The link and any access details are on Al-Anon Family Groups' own meeting page.

Do I have to have my camera switched on?

There's no expectation either way — some members have their camera on, others don't, and newcomers are welcome to just listen at the start.

Walking into a room for the first time is the hardest step. Foundations, our plain-language introduction to recovery, was written for exactly this moment — what to expect, what the Steps mean, and how to begin.
