Swindon's Thursday Al-Anon group meets at the Lawn Community Centre on Guildford Avenue from 7.30pm, with a longer two-hour session giving plenty of room for sharing. Al-Anon Family Groups is for anyone whose life has been affected by someone else's drinking, whether they are a partner, parent, adult child, sibling or friend, and the meeting keeps its focus on the person attending rather than the relative or friend who drinks. As an open meeting, newcomers, visitors and professionals can all attend alongside regular members without any prior connection to Al-Anon. There is no obligation to speak, and the extended length means there is rarely any need to rush. The Lawn area is a well-known residential part of Swindon, straightforward to reach by bus or car.
