Getting there
About this meeting
Sunderland Thursday is an Al-Anon Family Group meeting online every Thursday at 7.30pm, UK and Ireland time, and runs for about an hour and a half. It is for anyone whose life is, or has been, affected by someone else's drinking, including partners, parents, adult children and friends, giving space to talk about the impact of that relationship on their own wellbeing. The meeting is open, so newcomers unsure whether Al-Anon is right for them are welcome to attend and listen first. Members support each other regardless of whether the relative or friend concerned is still drinking, in recovery, or no longer part of their life.

Walking into a room for the first time is the hardest step. Foundations, our plain-language introduction to recovery, was written for exactly this moment — what to expect, what the Steps mean, and how to begin.
