About this meeting

The Stranorlar group runs a Big Book meeting on Friday evenings at 8.30pm at the Finn Valley Resource Centre on Drumboe Avenue, Co. Donegal. This session focuses on reading and discussing passages from Alcoholics Anonymous's core text, offering a more structured alternative to the group's Monday Steps meeting held at the same venue. As with the group's other sessions, it is closed, intended for people who have a desire to stop drinking rather than family members or professionals hoping to observe. There is no charge for attending and no need to book in advance. Members attending across the week will recognise the Finn Valley Resource Centre as the group's regular home, and anyone new to Stranorlar or to AA is welcome to arrive a little before 8.30pm on Friday.

Common questions

How does the Friday meeting differ from the group's Monday session?

Friday follows a Big Book format, reading and discussing the AA text directly, while Monday's meeting works through the Steps instead.

Who is this meeting for?

It's closed, for people who have a desire to stop drinking, rather than an open meeting for family or visitors.

Is there a fee to attend?

No, it is free and there is no booking required, so you can simply arrive for 8.30pm.
