Experience, Strength & Hope takes its name from what AA members offer each other when they share, and that is the heart of this Friday night meeting at St Alban the Martyr Church on St Johns Road, Westcliff-on-Sea. It starts at 7pm and runs for an hour and a half. Because it is an open meeting, anyone can attend: people who have a desire to stop drinking, partners and family members trying to understand, friends offering support, and professionals. The church is wheelchair accessible. Friday evening is prime drinking time for much of the town, which is exactly why a meeting then can be so valuable. It is free, unbooked and anonymous; just turn up.
I want to support my partner at their first meeting. Can I come in?
Yes. This is an open AA meeting, so family members and friends are welcome to attend alongside the person they are supporting.
Do I need to book or bring money?
No. AA meetings are free and there is no booking. A voluntary collection may be passed round for room hire, but nobody is expected to give, least of all newcomers.
What are the practical details?
