Getting there
About this meeting
Rawtenstall Step meets on Sunday evenings at 7pm at Longholme Methodist Church on Bacup Road, running for an hour and a half. As a step meeting it works through the Twelve Steps of the AA programme, one at a time, with members sharing how each step has worked in their own recovery; over the weeks this amounts to a rolling education in how AA actually functions. It is a closed meeting, for people who have a desire to stop drinking, including complete newcomers. Wheelchair access has not been confirmed for this Sunday session, though the Wednesday meeting at the same church is listed as accessible. The meeting is free and needs no booking.
Common questions
I have never done any of the steps. Is that a problem?
Not at all. Step meetings assume nothing; you can listen to members discuss whichever step is being studied and take from it what you like. Nobody will ask you to work a step or to speak.
Who is the meeting for?
It is a closed meeting, so it is for people who have, or suspect they have, a desire to stop drinking. Family and friends are asked to attend an open meeting instead.
Is the venue accessible?
Wheelchair access has not been confirmed for this Sunday meeting. If you need step-free access, the Wednesday 7.30pm meeting at the same church is listed as accessible, or check locally first.
