About this meeting

Pathfinder Newcomers is a short, focused Alcoholics Anonymous meeting designed with first-timers in mind, running for 45 minutes from 6pm on Saturdays at Horfield Methodist Church on Churchways Avenue, Horfield. The brevity is deliberate: less daunting than a full meeting if you are nervous, and it leads neatly into the Pathfinder Three Speaker meeting at 7pm in the same building, so you can stay on if you feel settled. It is an open meeting, so family, friends and professionals are welcome along with anyone who has a desire to stop drinking. The church is wheelchair accessible, and Horfield is well served by buses along Gloucester Road.

Common questions

I am nervous about my first meeting. Is this a good place to start?

It is designed for exactly that. The meeting is aimed at newcomers, lasts only 45 minutes, and you can simply listen. If you want more, a speaker meeting follows at 7pm in the same building.

Can I bring a friend or family member?

Yes. It is an open meeting, so anyone supporting you is welcome to come in too.

Is the church accessible and is there any charge?

Horfield Methodist Church is wheelchair accessible, and the meeting is free with no booking.
