Newbury Step Study gathers on Monday evenings at 8pm in St Richard's Room, the pre-school building at St John's Church on St John's Road, Newbury. Over an hour and a quarter the group works through the Twelve Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous, looking at one step in depth and hearing how members have put it into practice. Step meetings reward regular attendance, but you can join at any point in the cycle. The meeting is closed, meaning it is for people who have, or wonder if they have, a desire to stop drinking. St Richard's Room has wheelchair access. There is no charge and no booking, and questions can be sent to [email protected] before you attend.
Do I need to have worked any steps to attend?
No. People at every stage attend step meetings, including complete newcomers. You can listen until you feel like contributing.
Why is this a closed meeting?
Closed meetings are kept to people with a desire to stop drinking, so members can share freely. Family and friends are welcome at open AA meetings elsewhere in the area.
Is the room accessible and is there a cost?
Yes, St Richard's Room is wheelchair accessible, and the meeting is free with no need to book.
