Newbury Chair meets on Thursday evenings at 8pm in the Friends Meeting House on Highfield Avenue, and lasts about an hour and a half. As a chair meeting, one member is invited to share their own experience of Alcoholics Anonymous and a desire to stop drinking before the floor opens up for others to share in turn. It is an open meeting, so friends, family and professionals are also welcome alongside those in recovery. A chit is available for anyone needing proof of attendance for court, probation or a treatment programme. The Meeting House is wheelchair accessible, and there is no charge and no booking required; newcomers can simply arrive shortly before the meeting begins.
