About this meeting
Marple Sunday is a weekly Al-Anon Family Groups meeting at 7.30pm at Marple Methodist Church on Church Lane, Stockport. The fellowship is for people whose lives have been affected by someone else's drinking, including partners, parents, adult children and friends, rather than for the person who drinks. It is an open meeting, so anyone with an interest, including a first-time visitor, is welcome to attend without arranging it beforehand. The meeting runs for an hour and a half, giving a settled close to the weekend for those who take part. There is nothing to pay and no booking process; those attending can simply arrive shortly before 7.30pm and take a seat in the church.
Common questions
Do I need to bring along the person I'm concerned about?
No, and most people don't. Al-Anon meetings are for the family member or friend, not the person who drinks, so you can attend entirely on your own.
Do I need to sign up before coming along?
No sign-up is needed. The meeting is free and open, so you can simply arrive on the day.
Is this a good meeting for someone completely new to Al-Anon?
Yes. It is an open meeting, so first-time visitors are welcome without any need to get in touch beforehand; you can simply come along and see how it feels.
