The Connemara West Centre in Letterfrack hosts an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting every Friday at 8.30pm, bringing a regular AA presence to this small Co. Galway village on the edge of Connemara National Park. It is a closed meeting, intended for those with a desire to stop drinking, following AA's general practice rather than being open to the wider public, though newcomers matching that description are always welcome. Members share their own experiences of drink and recovery in the usual AA way, without professional guidance or a set curriculum. Letterfrack's remote position means this Friday meeting is a valuable local option for people across a wide stretch of north-west Connemara. Attendance is free, with no booking or referral needed, and the meeting is run entirely by its members.
