About this meeting

Knightswood's Al-Anon group meets online every Sunday at 7.30pm, UK and Ireland time, for about an hour and a half. The fellowship exists for people affected by someone else's drinking, whoever that person is and whatever stage things are at. A Sunday evening slot gives members a chance to reflect on the week and share how they're coping, drawing on Al-Anon's literature and the twelve steps rather than a set format. It is an open meeting, so anyone whose life has been touched by another person's drinking is welcome, alongside those wanting to learn more or support somebody else. There is no need for previous Al-Anon experience, and no pressure to contribute; many people listen quietly for their first few meetings.

Common questions

Does the person whose drinking affects me need to attend as well?

No. Whoever's drinking has affected you doesn't need to know you're going, let alone attend themselves.

Is it free, and how do I join on a Sunday evening?

It costs nothing to attend, and you don't need to register. Head to Al-Anon Family Groups' meeting page for how to join.

Am I expected to have my camera switched on?

There's no expectation either way — some members have their camera on, others don't, and newcomers are welcome to just listen at the start.
