Getting there
About this meeting
Havant's Al-Anon group meets online every Wednesday at 7.30pm, UK and Ireland time, running for about an hour and a quarter. Al-Anon Family Groups welcomes anyone touched by someone else's drinking, regardless of whether that person is still drinking, in recovery, or no longer around. Members share their own experience of coping and recovering, working with the fellowship's literature and the twelve steps at their own pace. It is an open meeting, so anyone affected by another person's drinking can join, along with anyone wanting to understand the fellowship better or support a friend or relative through it. Newcomers do not need to have attended Al-Anon before, and there is no obligation to share; listening is entirely acceptable, especially in the first few visits.
Common questions
Do I need to bring the person whose drinking is affecting me?
Not at all. You can come entirely on your own account, whether or not the person is in recovery, still drinking, or no longer part of your life.
What's the cost and how do I join on the night?
There's no fee and nothing to sign up for. The link and any access details are on Al-Anon Family Groups' own meeting page.
Will I be expected to have my camera on?
No. Many newcomers prefer to listen for a while before switching it on, and that's absolutely fine.

Going to your first meeting?
Walking into a room for the first time is the hardest step. Foundations, our plain-language introduction to recovery, was written for exactly this moment — what to expect, what the Steps mean, and how to begin.
