About this meeting

Grays Step & Tradition meets on Monday evenings at 8pm at the Salvation Army Community Church on Clarence Road in Grays, running for an hour and a half. Each week the group reads and shares on one Step from the Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions, with the emphasis shifting to Step One whenever a newcomer is in the room, so you will never arrive to find the discussion pitched over your head. On the first Monday of the month the format changes to a Tradition meeting, looking at how AA groups themselves work. It is an open meeting, welcoming anyone including family and friends, and like all AA meetings it is free with no booking required.

Common questions

What if I'm brand new and the group is on a later Step?

The group deliberately puts the emphasis on Step One whenever a newcomer is present, so the meeting stays relevant to you no matter which week you first arrive.

What is a Tradition meeting?

On the first Monday of each month the group studies one of AA's Twelve Traditions, the principles that guide how groups run, instead of a Step. Newcomers are still welcome that week.

Is it free and open to everyone?

Yes. It is an open meeting, so anyone may attend, including family, friends and professionals, and there is no charge or booking.
