No dogs permitted in the meeting unless guide dogs.
Farrington Newcomers is a Tuesday tea-time Alcoholics Anonymous meeting designed around people walking through the doors for the first time. It now meets at 6.30pm at St Paul's Church on Church Lane in Farington Moss, on the northern edge of Leyland, and runs for one hour — deliberately short and early, because asking a shaking newcomer to last ninety minutes at 8pm is asking a lot. It is an open meeting, so worried family members are welcome to come along too. The church is wheelchair accessible. Dogs are not permitted, with the exception of guide dogs.
Why is this meeting only an hour?
It is built for newcomers — early evening, one focused hour, and members who remember their own first meeting. It is an easy first step into AA.
Can I come with my husband/wife/friend?
Yes. As an open meeting, family and friends are welcome to attend alongside you — many newcomers find that makes the first visit possible.
Is there wheelchair access?
Yes, St Paul's Church on Church Lane, Farington Moss is wheelchair accessible. Note that only guide dogs are permitted.
