Common questions
Who is Al-Anon actually for?
Al-Anon exists for people touched by someone else's drinking, whatever the relationship, whether a partner, parent, adult child or friend. The drinker themselves is not the member. This meeting is open, so newcomers and long-standing members attend the same session.
Can I attend without the relative or friend who drinks?
No, not at all. Al-Anon is about your own experience and wellbeing, so attending alone is normal and expected. The relative or friend concerned is not required to be there, or even aware of it.
Is there a cost, or do I need to book a place?
There is no charge and no need to book. Just come along on Tuesday for the 7.15pm start; you can simply take a seat when you arrive. The meeting lasts around an hour and a quarter.
