Getting there
About this meeting
Brighton's Friday Al-Anon meeting runs online at 10.30am, UK and Ireland time, for about an hour and a half. Al-Anon Family Groups welcomes anyone touched by someone else's drinking, regardless of whether that person is still drinking, in recovery, or no longer around. A late-morning meeting suits members who want support before the rest of the day starts, sharing their experience through Al-Anon's literature and the twelve steps. It is an open meeting, so anyone affected by another person's drinking can join, as can anyone wanting to understand more about the fellowship or support somebody else. There's no need for prior Al-Anon experience, and newcomers are welcome to simply listen at first.
Common questions
Does the person whose drinking affects me need to join the meeting?
No. Whoever's drinking has affected you doesn't need to know you're going, let alone attend themselves.
Is there a cost, and where do I find how to join?
It costs nothing to attend, and you don't need to register. Head to Al-Anon Family Groups' meeting page for how to join.
Do I need my camera on throughout the meeting?
No. Many newcomers prefer to listen for a while before switching it on, and that's absolutely fine.

Going to your first meeting?
Walking into a room for the first time is the hardest step. Foundations, our plain-language introduction to recovery, was written for exactly this moment — what to expect, what the Steps mean, and how to begin.
