About this meeting

Bedford's Al-Anon group meets online every Thursday at 7.30pm, UK and Ireland time, for around an hour and a half. It's a fellowship for family and friends coping with someone else's drinking, built entirely around the experience of the people who live alongside it, rather than the person drinking. The meeting gives members space to share what's helped them cope, using Al-Anon's own literature and the twelve steps as a framework. It is an open meeting, so anyone whose life has been affected by another person's drinking can join, as well as anyone wanting to understand more or support somebody else. Newcomers don't need any prior experience of Al-Anon, and are welcome to listen rather than speak for their first few visits.

Common questions

Do I have to bring the person whose drinking affects me?

No. Al-Anon is for you, in your own right. Many members attend on their own and never alongside the person whose drinking concerns them.

What does it cost and how do I get access on the night?

It's free to attend and there's nothing to book. Joining details are on Al-Anon Family Groups' own meeting page.

Do I need to have my camera on?

There's no requirement either way. Many newcomers prefer to listen for a while with their camera off before joining in.
