About this meeting

Barton's Al-Anon Family Groups meeting takes place online every Tuesday at 7.30pm, UK and Ireland time, for about an hour and a half. Al-Anon Family Groups is there for people affected by another person's drinking — you don't need to be related to them, just affected by it. The group shares experience of living alongside someone else's drinking, using Al-Anon's own literature and the twelve steps rather than following a set script. It is an open meeting, so anyone touched by another person's drinking is welcome, alongside anyone wanting to understand the fellowship better or support a friend or relative through it. Newcomers do not need prior experience of Al-Anon, and are welcome to simply listen at first.

Common questions

Do I have to bring the person whose drinking is a concern?

No. Al-Anon is for you, in your own right. Many members attend on their own and never alongside the person whose drinking concerns them.

Is it free, and how do I find the joining details?

There's no fee and nothing to sign up for. The link and any access details are on Al-Anon Family Groups' own meeting page.

Will I need to have my camera on?

No. Many newcomers prefer to listen for a while before switching it on, and that's absolutely fine.
