The Barclay Thursday Night group of Narcotics Anonymous meets weekly at Barclay Viewforth Church Centre in Bruntsfield, Edinburgh, close to the King's Theatre. Meetings run from 7.30pm and last around an hour and fifteen minutes, so it's worth arriving early — the doors close at 7.20pm. Each week follows a speaker and sharing format, with an experience, strength and hope chair leading before members share. This is an open meeting, so anyone is welcome, whether you're a member, curious about NA, or supporting someone. Children are welcome too; parents are asked to supervise them and have them wear headphones. Please note pets aren't permitted. If you're new, you can simply turn up and listen.
Can I come along if I'm new or just want to find out about NA?
Yes. This is an open meeting, so anyone can attend — people looking to stop using drugs, family, friends and anyone curious about Narcotics Anonymous. The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop using. Just arrive before the doors close at 7.20pm and take a seat.
Is there a cost or do I need to book?
No. NA meetings are free and there's no need to book — just turn up. Members make a small voluntary contribution to cover room hire and refreshments, but you're never expected to give and can simply attend and listen.
Can I bring my children?
Yes, children are welcome. Parents are asked to supervise them throughout and have them wear headphones during the meeting. Please note that pets aren't allowed at this venue.
