Getting there
About this meeting
Every Wednesday at 8.30pm, an Al-Anon Family Groups meeting gathers in Sutton, at St. Fintans Parish Pastoral Centre, Greenfield Road. The group is for people whose lives have been shaped by someone else's drinking, drawing partners, parents, adult children and friends together to share their own experience. Being an open meeting, it welcomes anyone affected by someone else's drinking, including people coming along for the first time. It lasts around an hour. There is no fee involved and no booking required, so arriving a few minutes before 8.30pm is all it takes.
Common questions
Is this meeting only for family members of someone who drinks?
Al-Anon Family Groups is for people whose lives are, or have been, affected by someone else's drinking, not for the person who drinks. Members include partners, parents, adult children, other relatives and friends. This particular meeting is open, so anyone in that situation, including newcomers, is welcome to sit in.
Can I attend without the relative or friend who drinks?
No. The meeting is for you, in your own right, and many people attend entirely on their own. The person whose drinking has affected you never needs to come along, and does not even need to know you are going.
How do I join, and is there a fee?
Al-Anon meetings are always free to attend, and there is no booking system, so turning up on Wednesday at 8.30pm is all that is needed. The meeting lasts around an hour.
