The Format of the Meeting is Reading a Step from the Basic Text and Sharing Back. Fellows Bringing Children, Please Can They be Supervised and Ideally Wearing Headphones.
This Narcotics Anonymous newcomers meeting runs every Thursday evening in Shanklin, on the Isle of Wight. Members gather at YMCA Winchester House on Sandown Road from 19:00 for an hour, working through a step from the Basic Text and then sharing back on it. As the name suggests, it's a good landing spot if you're new to NA and finding your feet. Parking is available at the venue, and pets are welcome too. If you bring children along, the meeting asks that they be supervised and, ideally, wearing headphones during the sharing. It's a straightforward, welcoming format built around reading and honest discussion, with plenty of room to just listen if that's what you need.
Can I come to this meeting if I'm new to NA?
Yes. This is a newcomers meeting and an open one, so anyone is welcome, including family, friends and anyone curious about recovery. It's designed with newcomers in mind, so there's no pressure to speak. NA is for anyone with a desire to stop using drugs.
Do I need to book or pay anything?
No booking and no cost. NA meetings are free to attend and self-supporting through voluntary contributions from members. Just turn up on Thursday for 19:00 at YMCA Winchester House on Sandown Road.
Can I bring my children or a pet?
Pets are welcome at this meeting. Children can come too, but the group asks that they be supervised and ideally wear headphones during the sharing to keep confidentiality. Parking is available at the venue.
