Rayleigh Recovery is the Thursday evening companion to the town's Tuesday lunchtime meeting, gathering in the same Bethenay Room at Our Lady of Ransom RC Church, 50 London Hill. It starts at 6.30pm and lasts an hour and a half, early enough that you can attend straight from work and still have your evening. As an open Alcoholics Anonymous meeting it welcomes everyone: people who have a desire to stop drinking, their families and friends, and professionals wanting to see AA at first hand. The church is wheelchair accessible. There is no fee, no register and no booking; the only thing you need to do is walk through the door, and nobody will make you speak.
Do I have to be sure I am an alcoholic before attending?
No. This is an open meeting, so anyone may attend, including people who are still working out whether drink is a problem for them. Listening to others is often how that question gets answered.
Is there any cost or booking?
None. AA meetings are always free and never need booking. Just arrive at the Bethenay Room shortly before 6.30pm on Thursday.
Is the venue accessible and when does it end?
Our Lady of Ransom RC Church on London Hill is wheelchair accessible. The meeting runs from 6.30pm to 8pm.
