About this meeting
Plymouth Friday Evening meets weekly at 5.30pm at Plymstock United Church on Plymstock Road, Plymouth, Devon. Al-Anon Family Groups exist for people whose lives have been affected by someone else's drinking, including partners, parents, adult children and friends, rather than for the person who drinks. It is an open meeting, so anyone with an interest, including a newcomer attending for the first time, is welcome without any need to arrange it in advance. The meeting lasts an hour, offering a straightforward option at the end of the working week. There is no charge and no booking required; those attending can simply arrive a little before 5.30pm and take a seat.
Common questions
Can I come without the drinker knowing I've gone to Al-Anon?
Yes. The meeting is for you, and there is no requirement to tell the person whose drinking has affected you that you are attending.
Is there a cost, and do I need to book a place?
No. Like all Al-Anon meetings, it is free to attend and there is no booking system; you can simply come along on the day.
What if I only want to see what Al-Anon is like, rather than join properly?
That's fine. Because the meeting is open, you can attend once, several times, or regularly, entirely at your own pace.
