This Al-Anon Family Groups meeting, previously known as Ryde Friday, now meets at the Utility Energy Hub on the High Street in Newport, Isle of Wight, every Friday at 11.45am. Al-Anon is a fellowship for relatives and friends affected by someone else's drinking, not for the person who drinks: partners, parents, adult children and friends are all part of its membership. It is an open meeting, so anyone in that situation can attend without contacting anyone beforehand, and there is no need to bring the person whose drinking has affected you. The meeting lasts an hour and a quarter, is free to attend, and there is no booking required. It runs weekly on Friday mornings.

Do I need to bring the person whose drinking has affected me?

No. The meeting is for you, in your own right. Many people attend on their own and the relative or friend who drinks never needs to come along, or even know you are going.

Does it cost anything, and do I need to book?

It is free to attend and there is no need to book or register. The meeting is held weekly on Fridays at 11.45am and lasts an hour and a quarter; just arrive for the start.
