About this meeting
New Ross Friday meets weekly at 7.30pm at the Youth New Ross building, Bullawn, on Bowling Green, Co. Wexford. Al-Anon Family Groups are there for people affected by someone else's drinking, including partners, parents, adult children and friends, rather than for the drinker themselves. As an open meeting, it welcomes anyone with an interest, including a first-time visitor, without any need to contact the group beforehand. The meeting lasts an hour and a half, giving a settled end to the working week. There is nothing to pay and no booking required; those attending can simply arrive shortly before 7.30pm and take a seat, joining in as much or as little as they choose.
Common questions
Do I have to bring the person whose drinking has affected me?
No. Al-Anon is for you, in your own right. You can attend on your own; the person does not need to come, know you are attending, or be involved in any way.
How much does it cost to attend?
Nothing. Al-Anon meetings are free of charge, with no membership fee and no need to reserve a place.
Do I need any experience of Al-Anon before I come?
No experience is needed. The meeting is open, so anyone attending for the first time can simply arrive and take part at their own pace.

Walking into a room for the first time is the hardest step. Foundations, our plain-language introduction to recovery, was written for exactly this moment — what to expect, what the Steps mean, and how to begin.
