About this meeting

Exeter Newcomers does what its name suggests: it is an AA meeting with new people firmly in mind, held every Friday at 7.30pm at 9 Flowerpot Lane in Exeter and lasting an hour and a half. Because it is an open meeting, anyone can attend, so if you would rather come with a partner, friend or support worker the first time, that is fine here. A chit system operates, meaning the group can sign an attendance slip if you need evidence for court, probation or a treatment service. Wheelchair access has not been confirmed for this venue. As with all of AA, it costs nothing and needs no booking; arriving a little before 7.30pm gives you the easiest start.

Common questions

Is this meeting suitable for a first-timer?

Very much so. It is aimed at newcomers, it is open so you can bring someone with you, and nobody will ask you to speak. Just turn up on a Friday before 7.30pm.

Do I need to book or pay anything?

No. AA meetings are free, with no booking, referral or membership forms. The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking.

Can I get my attendance signed for court or probation?

Yes. This meeting operates a chit system and can sign a slip confirming you attended. Ask the secretary when you arrive.
