About this meeting
The East Sussex Wednesday Group brings Overeaters Anonymous members together at King's Church on Brooks Road in Lewes. It meets every Wednesday at 18:00 and runs as both a Big Book study and a speaker meeting, so you'll hear the OA literature discussed alongside members sharing their own experience. Being an open meeting, it welcomes anyone who wants to understand OA, including family, friends and professionals, as well as those with a desire to stop eating compulsively. There's a newcomer focus, so if it's your first time you won't be left to work things out alone. No need to sign up in advance or prepare anything. Just turn up, find a seat and listen for as long as you like. Richard is the local contact.
Common questions
Can I come along if I'm not sure OA is for me?
Yes. This is an open meeting, which means anyone is welcome, including people who simply want to learn more, family members and professionals. There's a newcomer element to the format, so first-timers are expected and looked after.
Do I need to book or pay?
No. OA meetings are free to attend and there's no booking or registration. OA is self-supporting through members' own contributions, so a small voluntary donation may be passed round, but you're never obliged to give anything.
What actually happens at the meeting?
It runs as a Big Book study and a speaker meeting, so you'll hear readings and discussion from OA literature as well as members sharing their own experience. You can simply listen if you prefer not to speak.
