About this meeting
Dalmuir Monday meets every week at 7.30pm at Dalmuir Community Education Centre on Duntocher Road, West Dunbartonshire. Al-Anon Family Groups are for people whose lives have been affected by someone else's drinking, such as partners, parents, adult children and friends, rather than for the drinker. Being an open meeting, it welcomes anyone with an interest, including those attending for the first time, without any prior arrangement needed. The meeting lasts an hour and a half, giving a settled start to the week for those in Clydebank and the surrounding area. Attendance is free and there is no booking required; simply arrive shortly before 7.30pm and go in to join the group.
Common questions
Do I have to bring the person whose drinking has affected me?
No. Al-Anon is for you, in your own right. You can attend on your own; the person does not need to come, know you are attending, or be involved in any way.
How much does it cost to attend?
Nothing. Al-Anon meetings are free of charge, with no membership fee and no need to reserve a place.
Is it awkward to turn up on my own for the first time?
Most people do exactly that. The meeting is open to newcomers, and you are welcome to sit quietly and listen for as long as you need.

Going to your first meeting?
Walking into a room for the first time is the hardest step. Foundations, our plain-language introduction to recovery, was written for exactly this moment — what to expect, what the Steps mean, and how to begin.
