Getting there
About this meeting
At St Columbas Church Hall, Lovers Lane in Cupar, Fife, an Al-Anon Family Groups meeting runs weekly on Wednesdays at 7.30pm. Membership is open to anyone touched by someone else's drinking, not the person drinking, and includes husbands, wives, partners, parents, adult children and friends. This is an open meeting, so anyone with a connection to the situation, including newcomers still deciding whether Al-Anon is for them, is welcome to attend. The meeting runs for around an hour and a half. Nothing needs to be arranged in advance and there is no cost, so newcomers can simply come along on the Wednesday.
Common questions
Can anyone attend this meeting?
Al-Anon Family Groups is for people whose lives are, or have been, affected by someone else's drinking, not for the person who drinks. Members include partners, parents, adult children, other relatives and friends. This particular meeting is open, so anyone in that situation, including newcomers, is welcome to sit in.
Does the person who drinks need to come with me?
No, not at all. Al-Anon is about your own experience and wellbeing, so attending alone is normal and expected. The relative or friend concerned is not required to be there, or even aware of it.
Is there a cost, or do I need to book a place?
There is no charge and no need to book. Just come along on Wednesday for the 7.30pm start; you can simply take a seat when you arrive. The meeting lasts around an hour and a half.
