Getting there
About this meeting
An Al-Anon Family Groups meeting is held every Wednesday at 8pm in Bray, Co. Wicklow, at Little Bray Family Resource and Development Centre, Ard Chulainn, Upper Dargle Road. The group is for people whose lives have been shaped by someone else's drinking, drawing partners, parents, adult children and friends together to share their own experience. Open meetings like this one welcome anyone with an interest, so you do not need to have attended before or know anyone in the room. Each meeting runs for around an hour. There is no fee involved and no booking required, so arriving a few minutes before 8pm is all it takes.
Common questions
Is this meeting only for family members of someone who drinks?
Al-Anon Family Groups is for people whose lives are, or have been, affected by someone else's drinking, not for the person who drinks. Members include partners, parents, adult children, other relatives and friends. This particular meeting is open, so anyone in that situation, including newcomers, is welcome to sit in.
Does the person who drinks need to come with me?
No. You are welcome whether or not the person whose drinking concerns you ever attends themselves. Plenty of members come by themselves, and the meeting works the same way either way.
Is there a cost, or do I need to book a place?
There is no charge and no need to book. Just come along on Wednesday for the 8pm start; you can simply take a seat when you arrive. The meeting lasts around an hour.
