The Meeting Format is an Experience, Strength & Hope Chair Every Week. Fellows With Children, Please Can they be Supervised and Wearing Headphones.
Every Wednesday evening this Narcotics Anonymous group gathers at St Catharine's Convent on Lauriston Gardens, just south of Edinburgh's city centre. Doors are open to anyone, whether you're attending your first meeting or have years behind you, alongside family, friends and interested professionals. The format runs each week as an Experience, Strength and Hope chair, meaning a member shares their story before the floor opens for others to speak. Sessions start at 19:00 and last around an hour and a quarter. Children are welcome, though fellows are asked to supervise them and have them wear headphones during shares. Please note the venue asks that no pets are brought along. It's a straightforward, honest hour among people who understand what recovery takes.
Can I come if I'm not sure I'm ready to stop using?
Yes. This is an open meeting, so anyone is welcome, including family, friends and professionals. The only requirement for NA membership is a desire to stop using drugs, and you don't need to have made any firm decision to attend and listen.
Do I need to book or pay anything?
No booking is needed and there's no charge to attend. Narcotics Anonymous meetings are free. A collection may be passed for members who wish to contribute towards room and refreshment costs, but giving is entirely voluntary.
Can I bring my children?
Children are welcome at this meeting. The group asks that you supervise them throughout and have them wear headphones during shares, so that members feel comfortable speaking openly.
