Serenity Saturday is a Narcotics Anonymous meeting held every Saturday morning at Kingsland Community Centre on Broad Green in central Southampton. Starting at 11:00 and running for around an hour, it's built around the Just For Today book, with members reading a daily reflection and sharing how it applies to staying clean. The book study format gives the hour a clear focus, which many people find steadying on a Saturday. This is a members' meeting, so it's for anyone with a desire to stop using drugs rather than a general audience. If you're new to NA in the Southampton area, you'll find people who understand what it takes to keep coming back. Turn up a little early to settle in before the reading begins.
Who can come to this meeting?
This is a closed meeting, which in NA simply means it's for people who have a desire to stop using drugs. If that's you, you're welcome. Meetings that are open to family, friends and professionals are listed separately, so look for an open meeting nearby if you're supporting someone rather than attending for yourself.
Do I need to book or pay anything?
No. There's no booking and no charge to attend. NA is self-supporting through members' own contributions, so a basket is passed round for anyone who wants to give a little towards the room and refreshments, but giving is entirely voluntary and newcomers are never expected to contribute.
What happens in a book study meeting?
The group works from the Just For Today book, reading the day's short reflection aloud and then sharing how it connects to their own experience of staying clean. You don't have to read or speak if you'd rather just listen, and there's no pressure to say anything at all your first time.
