You're Not Alone says most of what needs saying in its name. This open Alcoholics Anonymous meeting runs every Saturday at 6pm at Ashton Methodist Church on Wellington Road, Ashton-on-Ribble — an hour-long meeting at the time of week when isolation bites hardest. Saturday night sober can feel impossible in early recovery; a six o'clock meeting breaks the back of the evening. Anyone may attend, whether you drink or not: family, friends and anyone thinking about their own drinking are all welcome. The church has wheelchair access. Note the same venue also hosts the Polish-speaking Tu I Teraz meeting at 6.30pm on Saturdays, in a different room.
Is this meeting suitable for my first time?
Very. It is open (anyone can attend), only an hour long, and lands on the evening many people find hardest. Arrive a few minutes early and say you are new — you will be looked after.
Is the venue accessible?
Yes, Ashton Methodist Church has wheelchair access.
What does it cost?
Nothing. AA is self-supporting through voluntary contributions; a pot is passed round, but newcomers are actively told to keep their money.
