Held at Top Church on Dudley High Street, the Dudley Experience, Strength & Hope group meets on Monday evenings at 7.30pm and runs a little longer than most, at an hour and three-quarters. The format is the classic AA one: members share their experience, strength and hope, telling what drinking was like, what changed, and how life looks now. It is an open meeting, so anyone is welcome, including family, friends and professionals as well as people who want to stop drinking. The church is wheelchair accessible, right in the centre of Dudley. As with all AA meetings, it is free, and nobody needs to book or be referred; just walk in.
Can I attend if I am supporting someone rather than drinking myself?
Yes. This is an open meeting, so family members, friends and professionals are welcome to attend and listen alongside people seeking help with their own drinking.
How long is the meeting?
It runs for an hour and three-quarters, from 7.30pm to around 9.15pm, slightly longer than a typical AA meeting. You are free to simply listen throughout.
Is it free, and is the venue accessible?
Yes on both counts. There is no charge and no booking, and Top Church is listed as wheelchair accessible.
