Discussion 12 Steps meets on Thursday evenings at 7.30pm at the Community Centre on Willow Road, Darlington, and runs for an hour. As the name suggests, the meeting works through AA's Twelve Steps in a discussion format, so you will hear members talking about how they put the programme into practice rather than simply reading from the literature. It is a closed meeting, meaning it is intended for people who have, or believe they may have, a desire to stop drinking; family members or professionals wanting to see how AA works would be better suited to one of the open meetings held at the same venue later in the week. The building is wheelchair accessible, and there is no need to book anything, just turn up.
Can I come if I have never been to AA before?
Yes. Although this is a closed meeting, that only means it is reserved for people who have, or think they may have, a desire to stop drinking, and first-timers fit that description. You will not be asked to speak.
How much does the meeting cost?
Nothing. All AA meetings are free and no booking is needed; a voluntary collection may be taken but contributing is entirely optional.
Is there wheelchair access?
Yes, the Community Centre on Willow Road in Darlington is listed as wheelchair accessible.
