About this meeting

Hove Newcomers is designed with first-timers in mind. It meets on Fridays at 6pm at the Cornerstone Community Centre, part of St John's Church on the corner of First Avenue and Church Road, off Palmeira Square in Hove, and lasts an hour. It is an open meeting, so you can come alone or bring someone with you for moral support. The centre is wheelchair accessible, and a chit system is available if you need signed evidence of attendance for court, probation or treatment. A second, longer newcomers meeting follows at the same venue at 7.30pm, so some people stay on for both. Attendance is free and unbooked.

Common questions

I have never been to AA. Is this a good first meeting?

Yes. It is a newcomers meeting, so it is aimed at people who are new to AA, and being open you can bring a friend or family member with you.

Do I need to pay or book?

No. AA meetings are free and there is no booking system. Just arrive at the Cornerstone Community Centre shortly before 6pm on a Friday.

Can I get proof of attendance?

Yes. The meeting operates a chit system, so a slip can be signed for court, probation or a treatment programme.
