Penistone

Penistone, in the hills west of Barnsley and within reach of north Sheffield, has a Friday night meeting of Alcoholics Anonymous at St Mary's RC Church on Talbot Road. It starts at 7.30pm and runs for an hour and a half. The meeting is open, so anyone is welcome, including family members, friends and professionals as well as people with a desire to stop drinking. The church has wheelchair access, and the group operates a chit system, so attendance slips can be signed for court, probation or treatment purposes. There is nothing to pay and no booking or referral required; you can simply arrive a little before the start and someone will point you in.
