A Daily Reprieve is Great Yarmouth's Friday evening meeting of Alcoholics Anonymous, held at 7.30pm at Christchurch Methodist Church on King Street in the town centre. It keeps to an hour, which makes it an easy first meeting to try, and the Friday-night slot is deliberate: for many people that is the hardest evening of the week to stay away from a drink. The meeting is open, so you can attend whether you are worried about your own drinking or supporting somebody else, and professionals are welcome too. The name comes from a line in AA's Big Book about sobriety being a daily reprieve. Attendance is free, and nobody needs to book or be referred.
Can I attend if I'm supporting a friend or relative?
Yes. This is an open AA meeting, so family members, friends and professionals are welcome to attend alongside people who want to stop drinking.
How long is the meeting?
One hour, from 7.30pm to 8.30pm on Fridays at Christchurch Methodist Church on King Street.
Does it cost anything or need booking?
No. AA meetings are free and there is no booking or referral; you can simply walk in on the night.
