Chapter And Verse is Eastleigh's midweek Big Book study, meeting on Wednesdays at 7.30pm at St Andrews Methodist Church on Blenheim Road for an hour. Each week the group works through Alcoholics Anonymous, the basic text of AA, reading a passage and sharing on it, which makes the programme concrete for people who learn best by going to the source. It is an open meeting, so you are welcome whether you want to stop drinking yourself or are attending alongside or on behalf of someone who does. The church is wheelchair accessible. As with all AA meetings there is nothing to pay and no need to book; copies of the reading are shared, so you do not need your own book.
Do I need to have read the Big Book before coming?
Not at all. The group reads together during the meeting, so newcomers can follow along from their first visit. You are also free to just listen without sharing.
Can family or friends attend?
Yes. This is an open AA meeting, so anyone may attend, including relatives, friends and professionals, as well as people with a desire to stop drinking.
Is there a charge or booking, and is the venue accessible?
The meeting is free with no booking needed, and St Andrews Methodist Church is wheelchair accessible. It runs for one hour from 7.30pm on Wednesdays.
