Corby Share meets on Thursday evenings at the United Reformed Church Hall, from 7.30pm to 9pm. As a share meeting, the format is straightforward: members take turns to talk about their experience with drinking and recovery, and everyone else listens without interruption, which makes it an easy first meeting because you can simply sit and take it in. It is open to all, so friends, family members and professionals are welcome alongside anyone who wants to stop drinking. The hall is wheelchair accessible. There is no cost and no booking; and if Thursday does not suit, the group also holds a Sunday evening meeting in Corby at the Arran Way Community Centre.
What is a share meeting like for a newcomer?
Members speak in turn about their own drinking and recovery while others listen. Nobody new is expected to say anything; you can just listen for the whole meeting.
Is it only for people with a desire to stop drinking?
No. This is an open meeting, so family, friends and professionals may attend too.
Do I need to book, and is the hall accessible?
No booking and no charge, and the United Reformed Church Hall is wheelchair accessible.
