Spirit of Recovery is Bristol's LGBTQIA+ and ally Alcoholics Anonymous meeting, held every Saturday at 5.30pm at Bedminster Methodist Church on British Road, Bedminster. The meeting lasts an hour and is open, so anyone may attend: LGBTQIA+ people, allies, family members, friends and professionals, along with anyone who has a desire to stop drinking. Meetings like this exist because some people find it easier to talk honestly about their drinking in a space where they know they will be understood, though the usual AA principles apply and everyone is treated the same. The church is wheelchair accessible. Its early Saturday evening time also makes it a useful anchor before the weekend gets going.
