Aimed squarely at people in their first days and weeks of sobriety, Brighton Newcomers Big Book Study meets on Saturday mornings at 10.30am at St Mary's Church Hall, 61 St James Street in Kemptown, for one hour. The group reads the Big Book, Alcoholics Anonymous' foundational text, with newcomers in mind, so nobody assumes prior knowledge. It is a closed meeting, meaning it is for people who have a desire to stop drinking, and if you are brand new that is precisely who it is designed for. The hall is wheelchair accessible, and a chit system operates, so attendance slips can be signed for court, probation or treatment requirements. It is free, and no booking or referral is needed.
