Ending the working week, Seaham Multi-Group Step Study meets on Fridays at 6pm at St John's Church on Blandford Place, SR7 7SA. Over an hour and a half, the group studies the Twelve Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous in depth, which makes it a natural companion to the same group's Monday Big Book meeting at the same venue. It is an open meeting, welcoming anyone with a desire to stop drinking along with family members, friends and professionals who want to understand the programme. St John's is wheelchair accessible, and a chit system is available if you need attendance evidenced for court, probation or a treatment programme. Attendance is free and there is no booking.
Is this meeting only for AA members?
No. It is an open meeting, so anyone may attend, including relatives, friends and professionals. The only requirement for AA membership itself is a desire to stop drinking.
What is a step study meeting?
The group reads and discusses the Twelve Steps, the heart of the AA programme, one element at a time. It is a structured format that newcomers often find easy to settle into.
Is it free, and is the venue accessible?
Yes. There is no charge and no booking needed. St John's Church is wheelchair accessible, and the group can sign attendance chits for court, probation or treatment.
