The Glasgow East Wednesday Group meets each week at the Church of the Nazarene on Burgher Street in Parkhead, in the east end of the city. This is an Overeaters Anonymous meeting for anyone with a desire to stop eating compulsively, running from 1pm on Wednesday afternoons. The format combines OA literature with a speaker share, so you'll hear both the fellowship's readings and someone's personal experience over the hour. As an open meeting, it welcomes not only members but also family, friends and professionals who want to understand the programme. Angela or Robert are the group's contacts if you'd like to check anything before you come along. Meetings are held in English.
Can I come along if I'm not sure OA is for me?
Yes. This is an open meeting, so anyone is welcome, including people just wanting to find out more, along with family, friends and professionals. If you have a desire to stop eating compulsively, you belong here, and there's no pressure to speak.
Do I need to book or pay?
No. Overeaters Anonymous meetings are free to attend and there is no booking. Just turn up at the Church of the Nazarene, Burgher Street, Parkhead for the 1pm Wednesday meeting. OA has no dues or fees; a voluntary collection covers running costs.
What actually happens in the meeting?
The format is literature and a speaker. You'll hear readings from OA's approved literature and a member sharing their own experience of the programme. You can listen quietly for as long as you like before joining in.
